President Donald Trump continues to be the progressive left’s worst nightmare, what the classic movie “Forbidden Planet” foresaw as a “monster from the id,” created by their own subconscious minds’ lust for power and destined to destroy them.

The left took most of a century to infiltrate and control the so-called mainstream media so it could dominate not just one political party, but both the Democrats and Republicans.

In 2016 the media schemed to ensure a Democrat victory by nominating the Republican candidate least likely to win. As the New York Times reported, the media thus gave eccentric newcomer Donald Trump $2 billion worth of free media time, an enormous “campaign contribution” that made him the winner.

But to the media’s continuing horror, Trump then defeated Democrat Hillary Clinton, too. The left created the president it now depicts as Trumpzilla.

And now this leftist nightmare threatens, in Trump’s hands, to expand and destroy them. Here’s how:

Ever since the presidency of progressive Democrat Woodrow Wilson (1913-1921), Democrats have been gradually seeding our government with little-noticed “emergency powers,” laws and executive orders that – at the red dawn of their dictatorship of the proletariat – can be invoked all at once by a future globalist-socialist president to lock the chains of permanent progressive totalitarianism onto American ankles and wrists.

It apparently never occurred to them that a pro-America nationalist and populist such as Donald Trump might be elected president, or what might happen to their plans to erase America if he found and used the post-Constitutional powers that they had created for the use of progressive presidents such as Barack Hussein Obama.

New World Order presidents of both parties, from Obama to the Bush dynasty, had left our nation’s southern border open to an invasion of at least 22 million illegal immigrants over the years. Such cheap labor was the wish of businesses that bought and sold our politicians.

And because two-thirds of such illegals are likely to vote Democratic and be dependent on free government goodies, they offer progressives an easy way to take over the elected governments of the United States.

But what if an unexpected Trumpzilla president decided to build a wall blocking that flow of cheap labor, abundant votes and illicit drugs across our southern border? Congress could refuse to vote for such policies, the government’s unelected Deep State leftist judges could issue injunctions against the border wall, and leftist bureaucrats could impose delays. But could they prevent the building of such a wall? Perhaps not.

By using the more than 100 extra-Constitutional powers (powers that progressives put in place to empower themselves) that Donald Trump would acquire by unilaterally declaring a national state of emergency, he could in theory order the Department of Defense – in the name of national security – to construct a border wall using spare money already allocated for Pentagon projects or contingencies, or for Puerto Rico, or other purposes.

“We unquestionably have the authority to declare a national emergency,” says President Trump.

The new Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, Rep. Adam Smith (D-Washington State), agrees. Asked on a national news show if President Trump had “the authority to declare a national emergency and have the military build his wall,” Congressman Smith replied: “Well, unfortunately, the short answer is yes.”

These powers are nothing short of dictatorial, argues Elizabeth Goitein of the left-of-center Brennan Center for Justice at New York University in the January/February issue of the Atlantic. “Unknown to most Americans, a parallel legal régime allows the president to sidestep many of the constraints that normally apply,” she writes. She never mentions that these powers were largely created by progressives precisely to give dictatorial power to progressives to circumvent the Constitution.

Used to their full extent, these powers intended for progressives could let Mr. Trump shut down the internet, jail opponents, confiscate property, seize whole sectors of our society such as transportation, or override a 2020 election that went against him. This understandably frightens Goitein.

On the mostly #NeverTrump National Review right, David French fears that a Trump wall built through such emergency powers would set a dangerous precedent. Future progressive régimes could invoke Trump’s actions to justify their own radical seizures of property or regulations. President Obama, however, used some of these powers without precedent, and his extreme successors would do likewise.

In their arrogance, progressives created Trumpzilla. They gave government extreme and unconstitutional powers. It would be poetic political justice if globalist progressives were defeated by him. Progressives are the real monsters.
